Airtightness Champion

Welcome to Strairt, your partner in achieving airtightness excellence. As your Airtightness Champion, we ensure your project meets the highest standards of airtightness.

Our service begins with specialised training for your design and construction teams, emphasizing the critical importance of detailing and executing the airtightness line. Our training equips your team with the knowledge and skills to manage and maintain airtightness throughout the construction process.

We also introduce an Airtightness Risk Register before construction starts. This tool identifies potential risks early, allowing us to develop proactive strategies to address them. By managing these risks upfront, we help you avoid costly reworks and ensure your project stays on track to meet airtightness targets.

During construction, we provide regular site visits. We inspect the implementation of the airtightness line, ensuring it aligns with the specified requirements. If new risks arise, we quickly identify them and offer practical solutions.

Our involvement is hands-on—we ensure that the airtightness line is built to specification and provide expert guidance on detailing. We sign off on completed work, giving you confidence that your building will meet or exceed your airtightness target.

Airtightness Risk Register

The Airtightness Risk Register (ARR) is an essential tool for managing risks in building projects, applicable to projects with a wide range of budgets. This register acts as a comprehensive record of potential risks related to airtightness, identified through collaboration with the architect before construction begins. By categorising risks from high to low, the ARR ensures that all parties are aware of potential issues that could impact the building’s airtightness. Throughout the construction phase, the ARR is utilized to monitor and approve these identified risks to ensure they are properly addressed. Moreover, the ARR remains flexible, allowing for the identification and inclusion of any new, unforeseen risks that may arise as the project progresses. This proactive approach minimises the likelihood of airtightness failures, contributing to the overall quality and sustainability of the building.

Training the Clients, Managers and Opertives

The airtightness champion is pivotal in ensuring the success of a building project by training all team members, including clients, if needed. This role involves comprehensive education on airtightness principles, ensuring everyone is aligned and aware of the critical importance of maintaining the airtightness line. By providing this training before construction begins, the airtightness champion ensures that all stakeholders understand their roles and responsibilities, fostering a unified approach. This alignment is crucial to achieving optimal energy efficiency and building performance, as airtightness directly impacts the overall quality and sustainability of the final structure.

Studies the Airtightness Line

When starting a new project, the airtightness champion carefully examines the details of the airtightness line and creates a comprehensive 3D mental model. This approach helps them visualize the construction in three dimensions, allowing them to identify potential issues early in the process. By understanding how different components interact beforehand, they can swiftly address any on-site problems. Their proactive strategy ensures that airtightness requirements are efficiently met, minimising the risk of costly delays or errors during construction. This foresight is crucial in maintaining high standards of energy efficiency and building performance.

Visit Reports and Project Reports

When the airtightness expert visits the site, they create an initial site report detailing current observations and risks. After 3 to 5 visits, they compile a comprehensive report that includes all identified risks, completed risk mitigations, and any new risks discovered. This full report also provides an updated status on the project’s airtightness, including a forecast of its final airtightness performance. The detailed documentation helps ensure that all potential issues are addressed, allowing the project to meet airtightness standards and achieve optimal energy efficiency.
